ROOFTEC has done 3 of my propertys now and up to date had no problems at all, once a roof has been done it is very easy to repair if needed. only saying what I found.

Comment by Garth D Robertshaw:
The Rooftec being addressed on this forum were NOT in business 30 years ago and are clearly not the same company that so many people have had problems with.

I don't think Rooftec from Boston in Lincolnshire (the roofing company I dealt with) has been around 30 years. I know they've gone under at least once and maybe even again as their website www.rooftec.co.uk is no longer online (never a good sign).

Maybe the credit crunch/recession put them out of business?

We had our flat garage roof replaced by rooftec some 30YEARS ago. My Neighbours 5years later. Both are still watertight and have had NIL maintainance
over that period (Not even a coat of paint).
Today ROOFTEC. are still in business, which says it all.

Sadly, the reason felt roofs are still being used today is because... they are a proven system. Where did you get the lifespan of 15 years from?? There are felt systems out there with 20 year manufacturer and even 50 year manufacturer guarentees. Unfortunately you went for the cheapest quote and got exactly what you paid for!!

I do not agree totally with this 50yr warranty. The companies tend not to be around. The glass fibre will craze, crack and is not flexible to take wind and heat movement. I had a 30 ys old garage door in GRP which was totally US after that amount of time. there are not many 50 yr old boats in GRP that still float. Insurance back warranty is also as bad as the insurance brokers alos go out of business.
Felt is old hat, EPDM still requires 100% preparation. Like many of these direct selling, commission sales companies, the onus is on money not quality. fast not precise.
We use GRP (25%), EPDM (34%), Liquid Rubber (40%) and Felt (1%). Customers choice and a realistic 30yr 'expected lifespan'.

I installed GRP flat roofing for over 25 years. I agree with the other comments that this company do not appear to lay what should be a standard minimum of 2 layers of .450gm. Mat. (Lloyds Spec). They lay onto inferior substraight materials without stripping off the existing. (so could be rot in the joists), No safety handrail evident which by law is required over 2 metres,so the customer could be liable to prosecution if an employee fell. The Final Polyester "Flowcoat" should be applied upon curing of the GRP in order to get a chemical bond....where do I stop? But done right GRP is great.
